The FemPeaceEA Cohort is an in-person gathering that aimed to facilitate open dialogue, knowledge sharing, and connection among feminist partner organisations, creating a foundation for lasting collaboration. 

The first cohort was held in Uganda in October 2024, bringing together nine feminist organizations for a week-long training, networking, and sisterhood dialogue. Feminist Partners strengthened their capacity to integrate media, digital safety, feminist peacebuilding, and self and collective care into their work. Feminist Organizations who participated in this FemPeaceEA Uganda Cohort are Rise and Shine Women Empowerment Center, Gorzo Movement, Umbrella for the needy, Yikono Movement, Nile Girls Forum, Golden Center for Women’s Rights, and Bwera United Women with Disabilities Association.  

Feminists from Ethiopia and Uganda engaged in in-depth discussions, knowledge exchange, and expert-led sessions on feminist peace, digital safety, feminist self and collective care, and digital storytelling. Psychosocial support was made available as needed, given the sensitive nature of the discussions and the demands of the work. Feminist Experts and organizations who led the FemPeaceEA Uganda Cohort sessions are Dr. Helen Kezie- Nwoha – Researchers Without Borders (REWIB), Women International Peace Center (WIPC), Her Internet, Patricia Kigula (Black No Sugar), Sharlotte Ainebyoona Kigezo, and Joyce Christine Nakiwala

The second FemPeaceEA cohort took place in Nairobi, Kenya in September 2025, convening five feminist organizations from Kenya and two from Uganda. Feminist Organizations who participated in this FemPeaceEA Kenya Cohort are Embibo Gender Initiative, Bukooli Health Initiative and women’s Rights, Healing Hearts, Upinde Advocates For Inclusion, Diversified Kenya, Feminists for Peace Rights and Justice Center and Msichana Empowerment Kuria. 

The gathering deepened learning on African feminist leadership, digital safety, digital storytelling through a decolonial lens, and feminist self and collective care centering Indigenous African practices, while creating space for participants to share their organizational experiences, knowledge, and practices.
